The main difference between digital and traditional marketing is the medium through which a marketing message has been disseminated to an audience. Traditional marketing uses traditional media like magazines, newspapers, billboards and flyers, meanwhile, digital marketing uses digital media, such as social media and websites.

As we all are aware that the marketing trends in today’s era are changing at a very fast pace and the market has drifted to digital marketing from traditional marketing, because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The young marketers have now completely shifted to digital platforms for promoting their brands as they have multiple platforms like e-commerce websites, google ads, emails, social media networks etc. to reach the maximum number of the targeted market/audience.

So rather than spending marketing efforts and money on the traditional ways of marketing, the marketers/businesses and the companies are now switching to the digital marketing platforms for reaching out to the maximum number of targeted consumers and for generating more revenue and profits for their brand.

As mentioned above this switch happened because of the pandemic. Many of the new businesses began working via digital marketing.

Although, both traditional marketing and digital marketing are effective in their own ways still as per the marketing trends digital marketing is slightly ahead of the traditional method.

Differences between Traditional Marketing vs Digital Marketing:

TRADITIONAL MARKETING:

  1. It helps you to reach out to the LOCAL AUDIENCE.

  2. Traditional Marketing is more of a personal approach as it is very easy for marketers to have a one-to-one communication in informing the public and to promote their brand’s name.

  3. Traditional Marketing Methods provide the hardcopy of the product(s)/ service(s) description, which is easy to read again & again.

  4. Less interaction is involved in traditional marketing methods, as the promotion mediums are not flexible enough to incorporate the customer’s interaction.

  5. It is expensive as it involves printing, radio and TV advertisements that cost more to the company.

  6. With Traditional Marketing Methods, the company must wait for weeks or months to get the result.

  7. Traditional Marketing Methods do not provide real-time results, drafting the marketing strategy takes time, as it is dependent on the marketing results.

  8. Traditional Marketing involves one-way communication, as marketing mediums are quite rigid.

DIGITAL MARKETING:

  1. It lets you reach the TARGETED AUDIENCE globally from all over the World.

  2. The physical presence of the marketers is not at all required in digital marketing methods but allows you to reach out to finite no. of consumers easily.

  3. The data on Digital Marketing is easily available on softcopy and can be accessed anytime anywhere as per the consumer’s requirement.

  4. The consumers/customers/buyers on digital can easily interact via social networking sites, e-commerce websites and different apps for collecting their feedbacks where the can put their views about the product(s) /service(s).

  5. It is less costly than the traditional method of marketing as everything is online. Based on the marketing requirement the business can opt for paid ads if they want to.

  6. It gives quick results & thus it is easy to get real-time marketing analysis/results.

  7. Digital Marketing provides real-time results; thus, strategy refinement becomes very easy & the marketing team can opt to change or update their marketing strategy as per the market results.

  8. Online/Digital Marketing promotes two-way communication & thus helps to satisfy the customer feel that they are being listened and served.

While traditional marketing still has a place, but let’s be clear, digital marketing is the future. The fact is that every company and brand needs a digital marketing strategy to survive in today’s world, so there are plenty of career opportunities in future.

Keep learning and stay focused.
